Waiting for Comic Con to Start…
This is part of my ongoing attempt at learning to draw cars. I really like how the dinosaur came out, though. I feel like I’ve been more in touch with my un-penciled, goofy side lately. Speaking of which, if you haven’t read Sherman Alexie’s Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, go check it out! […]
Outside the CLBDF Party
My kick-off to the New York Comic Con was the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund party, which I heard about on Facebook. I guess they weren’t expecting as many people as they got, cause the bar was just wall-to-wall people (which, if you’re short and don’t know anyone, looks like wall-to-wall shoulders, all of which […]
Best Evening E-VER
First of all, come find me at APE this weekend! That’s right, French Toast Comix is making its table-debut. I’ll be at booth 137B, which is easy to find: It’s exactly as far away from the entrance as possible. Woo-hoo! I’m leaving for San Francisco tomorrow. I’ve never spent so much time around cartoonists–classes, apartments, […]
It Happens

Amy says: Make connections! Ask for help!
This was one of my favorite stories from Friday night’s FEEDING GROUND book release party. (At this point, it had moved from Bergen Street Comics to an Irish pub.) As always, Tom and Amy were the perfect hosts, and there were some really interesting conversations about cartooning, art, New York, life-in-general… Fun Trivia: If you […]
Sketchbook Page
Here’s a sketchbook page, since I don’t have any finished comics for you. This was my second week of classes at SVA, including my first actual figure-drawing class. It feels really different than I’m used to (using pencil instead of brush-pens and Microns, GINORMOUS paper instead of small sketchbooks, half-hour poses instead of discreetly trying […]
2 Train, 11:30pm
Ever experience a momentary blur between fiction and reality? I’d just sat down on the subway, still spacey from watching “Cabaret.” Falling asleep, not looking forward to the hour-plus ride home. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I saw size 11 black satin shoes and fishnets… It made my night.
