Being bandmaster has left me with way less time to paint lately. There’s always some little errand to do with scheduling the bands, or getting newbies on the payroll, or apologizing to a guest because the private piano in their deluxe stateroom is out of tune… On the other hand, it’s really cool to be in the cruise director’s office so much, just seeing what goes into all of the happenings on the ship that I used to take for granted.
But anyway: the picture on the left is from St. Lucia, an office building or something near the port. The architecture around here varies from crumbling former colonial grandeur to pastel-colored but vaguely-depressing boxes. On the right is Bridgetown, Barbados, one of my favorite places to bike through.
(Off the subject, I’m in St. Maarten, sitting in a popular crew-destination for internet, with some singers and dancers from the ship. I tune out muzak most of the time, but someone just pointed out that we’re listening to “Wind Beneath My Wings” as a cha-cha. Wow.)
