Last Day of the Contract
The shuttle took us from the ship to the airport at 9am. My flight wasn’t till 5, so I checked my bags and took a train back into Amsterdam. I found the usual requirements–coffee, internet, and old buildings–and then sketched in an outdoor cafe til it started raining. The first day off the ship always […]
End-of-Contract Moments
These were a couple of sketches I did right before leaving the ship. Sorry I haven’t updated in awhile; these sketchbook pages feel like a cop-out. I got off the ship July 21st, had a week in New York, and then went up to Vermont for the Center for Cartoon Studies summer workshop! That’s where […]
Postcards from the Baltic
As you can see, I’ve been hosting the parents on the ship. They were on for a twelve-day Baltic cruise, and are staying in Amsterdam for a few days. Postcards from the Caribbean
It’s been another crazy week onboard. Just in my department, we’ve had two illnesses, one near-firing, two friends transferring, four brand-new singers signing on, the bandmaster signing off, and me stepping up to take his place. (This job involves counting off tunes onstage, doing a LOT of paperwork, and having a spiffy mobile phone that […]
Clearly back in New York…
This delightfully lewd Sondheim reference occurred at the Duplex, a piano bar in the Village, on my first night back in New York.
